LONDON—President Trump struck a conciliatory note on trade with France, a day after threatening tariffs on its exports, and downplayed the tensions between the two allies.
“We do a lot of trade with France and have a minor dispute,” said Mr. Trump, speaking to reporters as he met with France’s President Emmanuel Macron at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization gathering. “I think we’ll probably be able to work it out,” Mr. Trump said.
